Not for ‘kids’ but girls/misleading & depressing
My son and I were totally disappointed! We randomly picked 4 stories and all were written by a girl & for a girl. And one of the stories was super depressing! Definitely not uplifting before bed, and totally unhelpful for my 11yo boy. He was pissed!
Way too traumatic for an innocent child...
I don't think this book is for pre-teens. Maybe pre-teens that have been through really traumatic situations. But definitely not my Son. The beginning of the section "Tough Stuff" mentioned being offered COCAINE. I couldn't believe that would be in a children's book. I think I'm going to try & pick stories to read with my 11 yo. This book could ruin a good innocent child's innocence, if you're not careful!!! We'll see...
Sad she does now
Buyer beware! had story about Sexual abuse that my grand daughter knew nothing about before reading. Sad she does now.
Many stories of death and illness; more than expected. Many good stories also.
Too many depressing events in the young children's lives in the book. Not as uplifting as I had hoped when buying this for my eleven year old granddaughter.
Couldn't have loved it more!
My daughter absolutely loved this book! It was a Christmas gift and to be completely honest we weren't sure how it would go over but she read it front to back and she's picked it up here and there to read Parts again since she finished it. She said she wishes that everyone in her class would read it to. There were definitely some parts that tug on the heartstrings, as is common with chicken soup books, but she highly recommends it to everyone and even took it all the way to the final bracket of a "Best Books" tournament in her school.
Great ideas for this age group
I only read a few stories out of this before I gave it to my 9 yr old granddaughter for her birthday. I loved them so much I wish I could've read them all. She loves to read and I hope that it will help her in her transition years.
Most stories were good..
The kid says: Most stories were good... Some were relatable... But some were depressing and sad. From the mouths of babes
& he really enjoyed the book
I bought this for my 10 year old grandson, & he really enjoyed the book. He even asked me to be sure to buy the next one in line - for the Teen Soul.
If you haven't yet, where have you been?? Lol
I have LOVED receiving and reading these books since I was a young lass. My last read being Soup for the Momma's Soul. So I decided to introduce them to my own daughter. They are just as helpful now. She read it for 2hrs this evening! No screen, just book!
Who doesn’t love Chicken Soup?
I gave this as a gift to my Grandaughter. I love the author and know she will enjoy it. 😊
